Premier League sack race – Ranieri and Howe favourites to depart, bookies SLASH odds on Rangnick after Man Utd collapse

CLAUDIO RANIERI is favourite to be the next Premier League manager relieved of his duties.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've updated their market following the departure of Everton boss Rafa Benitez.

Benitez, 61, became the seventh top-flight casualty of the 2021-22 campaign on Sunday.

The Spaniard follows in the footsteps of Xisco, Steve Bruce, Dean Smith, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Daniel Farke and Nuno Espirito Santo.

But who's next?

Betfair have installed Ranieri as the frontrunner at odds of 9/4 as Watford continue to toil.

The 70-year-old has collected just seven points from a possible 36 since his arrival at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets — aside from wins over Everton and Manchester United — have lost 10 of their 13 matches under Ranieri.

  • No Manager To Leave – 7/1

  • Ralph Hasenhuttl – 14/1
  • Graham Potter – 14/1
  • Thomas Frank – 16/1
  • Antonio Conte – 16/1

However, Watford have clinched several signings in January and their impact was felt over the weekend as they secured a point against Newcastle.

That result has seen Howe's odds shorten markedly from 13/2 to 4/1 second favourite with Betfair.

Howe, who replaced Bruce in November, has also struggled to steady the ship at St James' Park having registered one win in 10 matches.

The Toon sit 19th in the division — two points adrift from safety having played a match more than Watford.

And the pressure could soon ramp up on Howe given the club's new owners have brought in England full-back Kieran Trippier and £25m striker Chris Wood.

Burnley's Sean Dyche is close behind at 5/1 with the Clarets rock-bottom.

No Manager to Leave is a 7/1 chance, while Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has shortened to 10/1 following their late collapse against Aston Villa.

Ralph Hasenhuttl and Graham Potter share a price of 14/1, while Thomas Frank and Antonio Conte are locked together at 16s.
